We had a very exciting month selling raffle tickets that were donated by JetBlue Airlines to help support Place of Hope in caring and feeding our poor elderly. Ft. Lauderdale is the main location; however they have a team of agents representing JetBlue in Quito.
Several of their employees visited us two months ago and were very impressed with Place of Hope. The decision was made to donate round trip tickets for two people, originating in Quito or Ft. Lauderdale.
Our drawing was on Friday September 1st at noon. We congregated at Intag Coffee House and the lucky winning ticket was drawn by an Intag employee. The winner was Mary Ratliff from Bonita Springs, Florida.
Thank you to everyone that purchased tickets, as the total income was $3,260 to support Place of Hope. All funds go directly to the Place of Hope project and there are no administration fees.
We were fortunate through a donation to purchase more Indigenous clothing and shoes. Hot showers have increased and the people receive a new outfit. Much joy and happiness is shared between all of us volunteers and our 2 Indigenous cooks.
If you should be coming to Cotacachi from the States or you live in Cotacachi, we do have a need for clothing and shoes for the non- indigenous.

For Men:
We are planning a Minga for this month. A group of people from the communities will arrive about 7am, bringing machetes , hoes and other equipment to cut the growth in our back field and clear it. They will also clean the large area where we hold outdoor functions.
We prepare a full lunch for Minga volunteers around noon with a hot drink. Of course, photos will be taken to share with you.
Our second building used for medical had a roof leak that has been fixed. The floor and windows need a good cleaning. We will have a dentist with equipment to put in our second building once we have a sink, disposal system and hot water. This will be a great service for our people.
Again, thank you for all the support you have given us in the past, and know that you will continue during the coming months. Best wishes and gratitude for your support from all our volunteers. Donations go through PayPal and any donation is deeply appreciated. There are no administrative fees and all funds go directly for helping feed our poor or those in need.
