We have had a busy September & October. Our program continues to provide 300-350 meals per week. Today we served 75 meals. A special thanks to the Garringer Family for their generous donation and to all that continue to provide donations so we may keep feeding our indigenous elders here in Cotacachi, Ecuador. A big hug to all of our volunteers who week after week show up early in the morning to serve our elders. We could not keep doing this without your help.
Thanks again to Diego Buitron Rojas for donating $200.00 from his art show on September 12. Your kindness is truly appreciated.
Another thanks goes to a friend of Gus Calibre’s for donating many drink bottles. It is always nice to give something extra to our elders.
Today we celebrated Dia de los Disfuntos, Day of the Souls(Passed). Tomorrow, November 2nd is the actual day and many of our elders will visit the cemetery with family to pay their respect to deceased loved ones. This is an all day event. Most indigenous believe that souls never die, that is passes to the spiritual world once gone from this material world.
Our elders were served the traditional drink of Colada Morada. It is a warm drink made with typical Ecuadorian fruits and spices, served with pan de guagua’s, also traditional at this time. A wonderful person donated 25 cooked chickens to our program. Everyone was so happy to receive such a treat at breakfast today. These chickens were a complete meal and we used the potatoes for breakfast on Monday. Just over 125 meals were served from this donation 💕
We are a very small organization and all donations go directly to feeding our diner’s a nutritional breakfast Monday’s through Friday’s.
