The children visit indigenous homes with the teachers, dance and are given food to thank Mother Earth. Very few children at the school for photos – but you can see they are dancing. They make many of their own musical instruments. Inti Rami is a week long celebration to the Sun and Mother Earth.
The community invited all my expat friends who have been involved in helping at the school for a fiesta. These beautiful indigenous people truly appreciate our help in giving their children a safe, healthy environment, better nutrition with the food and all the books and learning supplies that have been donated from all over the US.
Just last week a new friend Melissa arrived with many books in Spanish for pre-school children. We had a great time sharing stories with these young children. Also, my two volunteer teachers are doing a great job in helping the children to learn a little English.
It is still amazing to me how fast my small foundation has grown and what it has accomplished. I am truly blessed with my volunteers, financial help and the eagerness of friends that I have made since living in Cotacachi. Many people find me on the internet and come for a few days to help and then to explore Ecuador.
As always… you are welcome to join us on any of our Ecuador Project Hope adventures. Your experiences will be life-changing for the Ecuadorian people and maybe even for you. Imagine the fulfillment of making a significant difference in the lives of these children, their parents and the village people.
