Haku Mikui Soup Kitchen – February Update

Funds are running short for feeding the elderly poor. Today, Thursday, February 5, we fed 54 people and had 10 carry-out bags for people in their village. Cost for food is running about $125 a week. We desperately need your donations to continue this project.

A minga (Indigenous workers volunteering their time) is planned for the end of February or beginning of March to build the new kitchen and cover the eating area.  We must pay for the supplies and volunteers will construct the building.

Our main concern now is to keep the food bank filled. No donation is too small. Thank you for your past donations.

Interviews have been started with the elderly poor to ask how they got into such dire need. The person interviewing is indigenous and speaks Quichua, Spanish, and English. In the near future, we will have the stories of these poor people for you.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
