We are serving the poor from 6 am to 8 am every day of the week.
There are more people arriving each day for a meal. Starting the week of August 12th beans and rice will be put in small containers for the people to take after breakfast for their lunch. Also, Pastor Armando will feed people on the street that cannot make the walk to the soup kitchen. Several of these people have mental conditions.
This is a new project and taking time to coordinate for better efficiency and of course we could use some volunteers.
Many of you are aware that I have helped several pre-schools with repairs and school supplies.
The needs go on and on. Unfortunately the funds don’t. For example…
We are always in need of funds to keep these projects going. As to the soup kitchen, the generosity of donors near and far amounted to almost $3,000. This completed the soup kitchen and we are in operation.
We have a shortage of food as you can see from the photo of the food pantry.
Feeding the poor is a number one priority at this time and the number of people is increasing. A friend has volunteered to use her place as a drop off for non- perishable foods one day a week and then it will be delivered to the kitchen.
We hope to raise enough funds to add an addition on to the existing building as a shelter for a few of the street people.
Again, this will be an on going project.
Ecuador Project Hope is a very small foundation and every dollar goes to where the money is needed. No Administrative fees.
If you will be in Cotacachi and would like to volunteer a little time that would be wonderful. I certainly would be glad to meet you.
Next week we will be delivering diapers and some small toys to an Indigenous Village called LaCalera. There are 9 children from the ages of a few months to one year. The total number of children in this school under the age of 5 is 40.
As always and wishing you blessings,
Micky Enright
