Our beautiful garden of hope is now abundant with fresh vegetables…
… all planted and taken care of by our elderly, who show much pride in their achievement. The fresh broccoli, onions, herbs and cauliflower are delicious with scrambled eggs that are served for breakfast. Corn will soon be ready to harvest.
Beans are planted on the corn stalks and have produced in abundance. Enjoy the little video showing our elderly “shucking beans”. Our cooks, Panchita and daughter Salome have prepared special meals several mornings of beans and rice along with the scrambled eggs, bread and fruit. Carry-out packages give our elderly people food to take home – a real blessing.

La Banda TIME performed great dance music Saturday the 24th of February.
Everyone was up dancing and having a wonderful evening. La Banda TIME performs the last Saturday of each month at LaTola Restaurant. Come on out for a fun evening, dancing and great food. A friend took this short video of my Indigenous 5-year old Godchild dancing with me at 81 years of age. A lesson in how to stay young by being active!
La Banda TIME will be performing at LaTola on March 31st for your dancing pleasure. Come along and enjoy a fun evening and great food. TIME performs from 6 to 9pm. Be sure to invite your friends. Entrance tickets are $8 per person – and remember this helps Place of Hope, which survives through donations. TIME Band gives a portion of their income to feed the poor elderly at Place of Hope.
Our amazing Dr. Patricio visited on the 15th of February and checked our elderly. Our wonderful Nurses assisted and each person was given special care and treated accordingly. Dr. Patricio speaks Spanish and Kichwa, a real blessing for our elderly to be able to communicate. Basically the doctor treats with natural medicine and works on acupuncture points for relieving pain. The elderly look forward to his visit once a month. Dr. Patricio, who volunteers his time, will visit on March 15th.
We are working with a government agency on obtaining a long-term lease for Place of Hope. They visited for an inspection recently, and were very pleased with the services that we offer as volunteers. We will keep you updated.
Come visit our small storefront at the Solid Rock Plaza on Thursdays from 9am to noon. Donations of clothing, crocheted items and more are coming in each week. The funds go to Place of Hope to provide what is needed on a daily basis. Thursdays are busy in this small plaza and a second restaurant has recently opened. The original Coo Coos nest offers a great breakfast and freshly made desserts at reasonable prices. This is a great place to have something to eat shop for fresh vegetables, homemade bread and bagels, cheese and much more. Hope to meet you on a Thursday.
Our volunteers are starting to plan our annual Pancake Breakfast with music by La Banda TIME. It was a great success last year and we look forward to having our second event at Place of Hope. It will be on Saturday, June 2nd and we will keep you posted.
Thank you for your continued support. This is much appreciated. If you care to make a visit, just send me an email or contact one of our volunteers.
