Cotacachi Food Kitchen Update

New Project Update May 1

Thank you for your response in donations for the initial work on our new project, the Cotacachi Soup Kitchen.  We did reach a total of $1,500, which gave us a start toward our goal.

We needed a total of $2,800 to complete this project so we’re just over half way there.

Cotacachi soup kitchenOur goal is to finish this project and open it by the middle of May.

I checked the building this week and the construction on the addition is started, along with the trusses for the roof portion.

The equipment for the kitchen is not in very good shape and urgently needs upgrading.

Here is a quick snapshot of what requires funding:

  • There is a donated refrigerator that needs a new motor.
  • We need an Ecuadorian stove with 2 or 3 open flame propane burners to handle large cooking pots.
  • A metal wall unit for storage.
  • We need another large cooking pot.
  • Cooking utensils.
  • We will serve on paper soup bowls and plates
  • Disposable glasses.
  • A stock of serving paper ware.
  • One more picnic type table with benches.

If you are able to help in any way it will be deeply appreciated by these less fortunate people.

Your donations can be made through PayPal and you can designate how your donation should be used.

The poor folks of this area will have the benefit of a hot meal at least once a day.  This will be a step up for many of them.
