Our Endeavours Embrace All Ages
Our passion to serve the less fortunate in Cotacachi has no boundaries. Our projects encompass both the very young and the older folks with heartfelt enthusiasm.
December was very active in many areas of humanitarian work for Ecuador Project Hope. Our elderly forgotten street people were fed a wonderful meal on the 24th of December and gifts of traditional cookies, a little candy and warm alpaca scarves were distributed to 34 people.
Many tears of joy and happiness were shared. Our soup kitchen is active to feed these beautiful people and we are moving forward to complete the second floor of the building. Details in the future….
The Pre School Projects
We visited an indigenous home and distributed clothing for the children under the age of 1 along with small gifts.
And two Indigenous pre-schools were given goody bags along with school supplies. Also, enough funds were raised to help provide Christmas bags for over 600 children located up in the mountains. No photos were provided from these communities and volunteers did a wonderful job.
Our goal for 2014 is to provide a shelter for our street people. Also we will have an area for orphaned children to experience a home environment and to be able to go to school. We do have a need for uniforms for children to attend school. There are many indigenous children who do not go to school because of not owning a school uniform.
An Important Perspective
Remember, the wages are only $340 a month and many of these people have 5 or 6 children. August is when uniforms have to be purchased for the children. The cost is $125 for the year and this includes a uniform, gym clothes, shoes and some books.
